Newbie Buying Spore & Take a trip w/ me as I learn

First off I have a question. I have been looking at places to order spores online and my picks are either PF or Hawks. I hear good things from PF but the site is shabby (though I think that their PF Amazon breed is the easiest to grow). Hawks site is very nice and it makes me trust it more but out of the beginners shroom types (Thailand cubes, B+, or Ecuadors) I don't know which to choose. Plus Hawks has the guarantee. My question is, who should I buy from and what breed?
Secondly, I invite all of you to watch me as I grow. Shrooms that is. :) I plan on ordering tomorrow or the next day and I will let everyone know when they come in. I also plan on using the method as described on The Shroomery which is a varient (if a varient at all) of the PF Tek method. I anticipate excellent results. I will probably do the poor man's method as I still live at home with momma. :( Any expertise as I go along is greatly appreciated. I will post frequently to let you know. I hope to have some grown by the second or third week of July hopefully

Also, what's the best tek to use? I just looked at Sporechicks and it looks hard as hell where as PF's doesn't seem too bad. I have never seen the one with bird seed (Hawks?). So what's the best?

PF has quality syringes and so do the other vendors, it just that PF is cheaper, so if your are going for your first time I would reccomend buying inexpensive spores because you may screw up your first time and its better to screw up with less money on the line. If thats not an object go with The hawkes eye or Spore works. Try one of the thai or cambodia strains, easy as pie my friend, as pie I say.

Hello,
A magick shroom spirit in holland told me that he would recommend PF. I'm not knocking any of the other vendors, but I would say that in the past the spirit said the syringes arrived in 1 to 1 1/2 weeks after ordered which seems reliable and there was never a failure to grow even from the first try at cakes and at casing. Also the spirit said the shrooms ranged in size from medium size all the way to 7" stems and 2 1/2 inch caps that is a decent size. Also when cased or used on cakes the strain does well and at variable temp ranges. I've also never heard the spirit have anything but good things to say about potency and visuals.

Most of the vendors guarantee their syringes, they all use the same postal system and the prices are all about the same. As for the cubs, they are also very much alike when it comes to growing parameters, potency and size.
I would suggest starting with a pf type tek using vermiculite and brown rice flour. After you get the hang of things you may want to experiment with bird seed, dung, and other interesting substrates.

I am a newbie too - still reading all the info I can get my hands on. I have decided on the PF Tek but I also read "Simple Cubensis Growing Guide". This was an excellent guide that answered a lot of my questions that were not covered by PF Tek. Also, the SCGG has excellent illustrations. Please put me in your address book so that we can both compare notes as we go. Good Luck!
