... the chicken or the egg? Well, logically, it was the egg. Evolution is way cool.

For argument's sake, you could also say that logically the chicken came first.
If infact the egg came first, how was it kept incubated long enough for the chicken to hatch?
Though if the chicken came first.. where the fuck did it come from?
Hrm, one of those life mysteries.

The egg came first, the embro was from another bird we shall call "indian jungle fowl" and it mutated into the form we now know as the chicken. Which then hatched, and laid many more.

nah the chicken came first, cause it would of been hatched from a slightly diferent birds egg, lets call it the shicken, so it would have hatched from a shickens egg. there wouldnt have been a chicken egg untill this new chicken layed an egg.
It all comes down to whether you think the egg the first chicken came from was a shicken egg or a chicken egg, ya get me?

cool cool so how do you decide if it was a shicken egg or a chicken egg? was the mutation of the chicken already defined by the egg, in which case it would have been a chicken(edit, i meant chicken not shicken hehe) egg. Or did the mutation happen after the egg left the shicken which means it would have been a shicken egg when layed I know I make sense to myself, i just hope you can still follow my train of thought and take this as food for thought and work on the idea

Well, neiter came first, or both, depending on how you wanna look at it. The chicken probably evolved from some other type of egg laying bird, and they slowly became the chicken after many generations of chickens and eggs. Although on the other hand I'm inclined to think the egg, because the first ever bird to be part of the species we now call a chicken, no matter when or where, had to be born from an egg. I would say it was a chicken egg, not a shicken egg, because how would a chicken be born from a shicken egg? Thats like saying chimpanzees give birth to humans. Although if you are a creationist the answer is easy: the chicken. EDIT: Incorporation of "shicken" terminology.

Its easier to imagine that a shicken would lay a chicken egg than a chicken be born from a shicken egg, or that a shicken egg somehow mutated into a chicken egg at some point in the incubation process.

Possibly a slightly chickinish shicken could have been layed inside a shicken egg then mutated inside the egg and at an early age into a chicken edit : I dont know much about biology so I cant say for sure at which point the mutation was most likely, but maybe it could have been either and we'll never know

HA! True, but I still think the mutation occured up in the reproductive innards of the fem chicken, cause thats when the young'n's genetic makeup is being written. edit: in response to your edit, yea good point. Maybe we should ask a biology person, or just let the riddle go unsolved.

I think that sounds more liikly actually, so the shicken layed the first chicken egg, so the chicken egg probably came before the chicken. I'm about 70% sure of this...
But heres a slightly tougher question. What came first, an egg? or an egg producing creature?
must be the egg producing creature! Just imagine how special that creature was! being berthed then laying an egg! thats fucked up

Has any one ever thought of the idea that maybe the chicken came at the same time as the egg. It was designed nicely, the egg came intact!
