My grow chamber smaell diffent than it usually does. In the past, my cakes/casings have had a slight "sweet odour". But this time, when I open my chamber there's a rich, pungent odour not unlike cream of mushroom soup. The one thing that's different from my other grows it that I have 5 cakes that were grown using soy powder instead of BRF - has anyone had any experience using soy powder, and could confirm this smell?...it's not necessarily an offenssive odour, it's just stronger than I'm used to smelling.
The only thing I notice in appearance that could be a contam is some orangish spots on the soy cakes. check it out:

I don't like that little orangish tint that some of them have, but then again I've never used soy powder.. it could be normal.
It looks like your cakes have a glassy look to them.. I'm assuming it's from the type of substrate used..
If those are your only cakes in there, I'd leave them in there to see what comes of it. If the orange continues to spread I would throw them outside in an outdoor grow patch, or else just dump them.
No point in dying over a few shrooms when you could just start fresh and trip just a little later than expected.

I have the cakes inside a chamber with a regular BRF casing, which is growing currently - maybe I should seperate them, unfortunately I don't have another chamber...and I was dying to see if these damn soy cakes work...hmmm...choices....

I threw the fuckers out - not worth my while. I don't have a seperate chamber, or else I would have put them aside just to see.
I searched through some old posts and noticed some others have tried - some succeeded and some failed - apparently the risk of contam goes up with soy...
