looks normal to me. I expect your jars to be a little on the slow side. That should be what's expected. And right now, you seem to be doing great.

Hmm, we are almost on the same page! I am at day 5 and my jars are beginning to look like yours. I'm so excited, I have that giddy first time anticipation.

Also, question for Sam: What did you use for that cake? I'm going to guess rye maybe?

I'm pretty sure it's just a PF tek jar. and i'm pretty sure i know what he did to it to, but how did you get such great results? I can't get even pinning all over mine like that... but i'm trying to. Sure, the double-end casing part pins lke yours, but the sides of mine... do you use fine verm or coarse? How much coverage do you get when you roll?

One piece of advice for you fellows with the jars. Try to forget about them for a week or so and then check on them. Snap a picture and put them back...

you don't want to expose the jars to much light before you try to fruit them or you might get some mushrooms trying to grow while they're still in the jar.

sam, your cakes make me drool.

Sam1912, your getting a lbs. per flush, holy shit man. I take it you're not using grain. I didn't think you could git that kind of flush. Damn man!!!!!!!! I'm new to this but still!!!!!

Thats what I want

Grains do a little better. But the longevity of grains is much better.

PF cake casings seem to compete well with grains for first 3 flushes. Fourth was very disappointing and I chucked them.

BRF is a grain..just not a whole grain..grains can certainly produce large amounts of mushrooms..do not underestimate it..bulk is not needed, only easier (in most situations) to make more spawn so more shrooms..if your willing to do grain and you can work to get the most out of your grain casings (be it BRF or whole grain) or cakes then you can definatly harvest multiple pounds a week. Its alot of work sure but its worth it.
