5-HTP and shrooms

OK, I haven't read any good data on 5-HTP in shrooms, but here is my theory. I'm not sure exactly how the enzyme process works and if the hydroxyl group will get removed by pyrodoxyl, but if it does not you might end up with 5-HO-DMT, which would make sense. For those who don't know, this is bufotenine, a wonderful toad poison, and although it may not be orally active (I don't know) here is what Shulgin says in Tihkal about it.

(with 16 mg, intravenously, over a 3 minute period) "Almost immediately I felt a burning sensation in the roof of my mouth and I felt a tingling all over my body. My face turned purple, and my chest feels crushed. Everything has a yellow haze, and I was sweating heavily and I vomited. Words can't come. My mind feels crowded. When I start on a thought, another one comes along and clashes with it. I can't express myself clearly. I am here and not here. It has now been forty minutes and I feel better, but I still feel like I would like to walk it off, like a hang-over."

So, maybe someone can prove me wrong, but I think most shrooms have bufotenine already, but you might be increasing the amount.

does anyone know the normal route of bufotenine biosynthesis? is it a continuation of the psilocybin/psilocin biosynthetic pathway or is it different?
it is possible that it has it's ownpathway involving 5-HTP.
if you attempt to increase bufotenine content, could you tell a difference whether you were increasing bufotenine vs. psilocin/psilocybin either qualitatively (subjectively between the different psychological effects of the two chemicals) or quantitatively?

would you really want to increase bufotenine content? with reference to shuglins description, i would much prefer the experience offered by psilocyinb/psilocin.

just some thoughts and questions...
if you're interested in this angle it's certainly worth pursuing with some research...

Personally I don't think bufotenine would be desirable at all. No one (as far as I know) is really sure if the fungus will stop at 5-HO-DMT or still try and create 4,5-HO-DMT. Some analysis really needs to be done. I know with the 4 and 5 position so close it would most likely never happen in a lab, but plants can accomplish some pretty amazing things, salvinorin A for instance. I wouldn't put it beyond the realm of possibility. I don't think that it would be orally active though.
That is another problem. One might be successful in creating new tryptamines and not realize it! If one adds a precursor to the substrate, try smoking the dried fruit!!!
