Pan. subbalteatus and campanulatus (Pix)
    #3343116 - 11/10/04 06:08 PM (19 years, 4 months ago)

Finally, found some mushrooms today. I havent really had much time to look actually. First time that I have a job that calls for 40+ hours a week.

So here are the pictures. Obviously the white ones are the campanulatus (inactive) and the brown ones are subbalteatus (active). I only found one patch of about 16 subbalteatus. However there were literally hundreds of pinheads forming. So,I'll go back in a week or two and take some more pictures.

It was raining today, so it gave the mushrooms a nice little shimmer.

Here are the Pan. campanulatus
I like this picture a lot

And the Pan. subbalteatus.

Yep, every year I have to wait until December to pick them. Luckily we've had some early rains, so I this is by far the earliest time Ive foudn them. I usually have to wait until it gets colder though...

I'll get some more pictres here soon...these pictures didnt turn out as well as expected.

Here are some better pictures of my patch:

I love those pictures! Do you have any experience with the potency from that particular patch? do they bruise blue at all?

Very nice pics Angry. Your cam owns

Is this the same patch as last year? You should actually give them a try this year. The Pan subb trip is different... seems to be a lot more visual than weilii and cubes. It's a lot more euphoric as well.

Nope, never tried them. I've picked them from this patch for 4 years now, and never had to desire to actually eat any. Ive picked some for my buddies, who said that they had  some fun times from them.

YES! They do bruise on the white mycelium at the base. Gumby's FAQ on the subbalteatus shows a picture of mine that has blueing.

Yup yup, same patch!!!

Man, I just dont have any desire to eat mushrooms anymore. My last trip was when I ate 7 dried grams of Pan. cyanescens, and I lost my mind...after that, Im pretty freaked about the whole thing!

Maybe in a few years I'll try them...I would like to feel the difference. Those Pan. cyanescens were simply amazing. I saw aztec drawings that moved with color and liquid motion and where 3-D... they were on the sidewalk too...!!! lol

You know...I would have to agree.

The are definetly Panaeolus solidipes.

"STEM: ...often beaded with droplets when young and moist, especially at apex" -Arora

Funny, because everytime Ive found them, they had beads of water on them. I guess they are edible. hmmph.

"young and moist"... heheheheeheheheehhee... :stonedjerk:

AS usual yyour P. subbs are magnificent.

Also great little find on the Pl. solidipes. I see them once in a while at the riding stable in Tumwater.

mj

by the way, my site is vastly expanding every day. Since November 1, of this year i have gone from 75 MSBS of space to more than 120. I have 1000 mbs to play with and 3 gbs of transfer a month.

Paid for quite a few years in advance.

mj

have a shroommy day

hey angryshroom, did you import pan. subbalteatus mycelium to your area? i checked the mushroom locations info. on this site and it didn't say that pan. subbalteatus grows wild in your area.

they are for sure pan subbs... i picked those ones and am swimming in a pool of blue foam right now... angry there was more than 200 pins, i counted nearly 600 before i gave up... did you look in the divit at the top? there was nearly 200 up there full grown... I have about 300 pan subbs to my right drying out on a piece of paper... I left about a thousand little pins to grow... in a week there should be quite a bit there, I've been harvesting from that place for a while, it would be cool to meet up for a hunt sometime...

Saw this in one of the docs here, hope it helps...

Quote:

Throughout the United States and Canada the species Panaeolus subbalteatus grows. Rather than create entries for states and provinces which would then have nothing else listed, it is probably a good assumption that this mushroom grows in those states and provinces not listed. Similarly, if it is not listed for a state or province, mentally add it.
