I have bought 10 pieces of these glasses and a german book on growing mushrooms reccomends them. But I am not shure mexicana A mycelium will get enough air exchange or not, because the book doesnt mention anything about this. The lids are not fitting tight actually (because normally they have a rubber ring around them) but when I close them on top of the aluminum foil it looks like the jars get pretty air-tight.
For cubensis this is no problem as I experienced, but this one in the pic is for mexicana A, for sclerotia forming. So it will have to stay in the closet for 3 months or so.
What do you think? Air will be sufficient or no?

Well i'd think not and yeah that is a good Q..I'd say crack the lid but that's such a great idea, maybe you could drill tiny holes in the top of the glass?...nah, u'd need a diamond tipped bit, lol, well I don't know but if I find out something i'll post, gl

take a pic of the jar with no foil or lid, and show me the underside of the lid, so we can all better help think of a way to get a small amount of gas exchange in there for ya.

im trying to think of a way to adapt a pollyfill filter, or somthing, but with it being an all glass jar im struck, i know i could get r done if i had that type of jar to work with.
yur just gonna have to not use that glass lid at all, use an aluminum foil lid, thats not air tight at all, and should release plenty of gas.
buy some normal jars, that will solve the problem.

oh by the way! what about polyethylene foil instead of lid? PE is said
to be able to let gasses through but will keep it moist enough i think. what do you think?

just figure out a way to make that glass seal not so well, like maybe forming an aluminum gasket all ouround the rim of the jar, and set the glass lid on top, that should make it not so air tight

try to adapt polly fill on it somehow, like stick a wad of it between the jar and lid, then duct tape the lid down tight so it will only let gas out at the spot of the polly fill.

do whatever works, your goal is to have a 100% air thight jar EXCEPT for the spot of the poly fill, that way bad gas can leave, but dirty air cant get in, do whatever it takes. i am not there with you so i cant tell you exactly how to put a polly fill filter on that jar, but if you work with it for awhile you will figure it out.
just get stoned, and sit there with that jar and some polly fill and tape, and mess around till you get that filter on there!
