I had a bag of hay incubating with plans to case it asap
lost power night before due to a wind storm and lost temps in the incubator over night that was november 8
I noticed the bag of hay was pinning invitro so I didnt want to disturb
the little guys but I had no place to put the bag for fruiting, my fruiting chamber being full
so, I took the hay out of the bag and set it up in a cooler with an
old aquarium heater in a jar of water for heat and humidity
I really didnt expect it to do too much I have always cased the bulk
never tried fruiting a bag of hay PF cake style
but wow!
check this out

nov 8 first sign of pins invitro

today

the set up

a very quick and dirty setup here
a bag of hay PF cake style

im not too sure, but i dont think you know the difference, city folk usually dont. Hay has all kinds of green crap in it, its bailed up horse food. Straw is made out of nice wheat. i think you are useing straw.

straw is the nice golden yellow stuff we grow our shrooms from, hay is green seedy fields of grass that got baled up.

im not too sure what straw is used for, bedding, and put it on your yard to get grass to grow better, i all i know.

I'm under this impression, as hay I have seen looks to contain straw.  I live in the country and am not considered city folk

Hay generally contains a bunch of other shit too though and a lot of little seeds.  Kind of nasty stuff for growing on I would imagine but could probably be done.

I really like that Noxy!  I might just try fruiting some PF-Tek Straw now.

Hay consists of Alfalfa and/or Fescue and/or Clover-They are grasses They are harvested to feed animals through the winter-Cows/horses whatever. They contain the seeds and stalks of grasses.

Straw consists of Barley and/or Wheat stalks that have been left over after harvesting the seeds(Barley/Wheat)They are not good for Farm animal consumption, bedding , yes,but not food. They also use it in landscaping to make a cover for the grass seeds(humidity and protection)to aid in an even germination of the seeds.

Hay is usually green colored and straw is an unmistakable Yellow.
Hope that helps.

I was worried hay wouldnt work too well but it was clean and dry and
not much green in it, very much "straw like" for hay
I was desperate not to lose it and very pleased that it is working out
ok being fruited like a PF cake
