CASINGS VS CAKES???
    #3341106 - 11/10/04 01:07 PM (12 years, 30 days ago)

Hello ALL! I am in the process of harvesting my first four cakes PF TEK of P.Cubenis and I am really excited. I have quite the assembly line going now. As new shrooms are generating, I am picking and drying them in a dessicator with CaCl2. Meanwhile in a cool dark place, I have four more jars colonizing. I am thinking of using the next four cakes to make a casing, but i was wondering, is this harder/easier/more or less tempermental than the cake method. Also, how many flushes can I expect from each cake (brown rice flower)? If casing is a good idea with these next four cakes, what is a good method? Just a lost shaman in need of direction .

^ casing

If you go to this wonderful website... i think it's called shroomery.org/com and click on "mushroom info" then "growing mushrooms" (weird...) "basic cultivation teks" and "faq" you will find all of your answers plus many more.

Let's start a post called "how annoying is it when they could just scroll down or search since the same shit is asked 100 times a day." I say this is made link #1 followed by "it's been 3 days since I ordered something, inoculated something, or initated pinning..."

Casing is a great idea and will most definately increase your yield.

I suggest coco coir/verm for your casing material.

No one forces you two to help people out in these forums.

If you don't like the post or are sick of hearing it, stop reading it.

Just because some person asked a question yesterday doesn't mean that someone new to this site didn't just sign up today and need the same information.  I don't see the problem with them asking.  In a lot of cases there are small details that differ and a lot of people that are new need reassurance that they are doing it right as it is a very intense process your first time through.

My two cents.

Silven

Said the man with "Stupidity should hurt." in his sig (I'm posting this after remembering the search screen comes up by default for like your first 25? posts). Just a little irony for you there.

  Said the man with "Everything I say on this board is a lie." in his sig

Now without further judgemental statements...

I don't want to argue here, but the search is sometimes difficult to use, and when I was new here I also used to post sometimes without trying to search because of how difficult it can be to use sometimes.

Also by posting you get to hear more information from a more diverse group of people rather than the sometimes opinionated guides and teks that are found with the search function.

Each method has it's ups and downs, and I do implore new people to try the search function, but it doesn't hurt to post your problems or questions either, if no one else will answer them I would be more than happy to take a stab at them.

One does not have to flame newbees. One does not have to try to be inpolite to others either unless....
As Silven says: if you dont like the question, then let it be! So easy...

I do that or I try to answer them but at the same time tell them to search as well.

The absence of flamers and insulters is one of the things which makes this site so great. Cause it keeps the air "clean"!
So keep it clean please!

My cents...

You know what? You can't say "casings will definitely increase your yields" It's definitely not true. True most of the time, though..

Anyways... Because of the time difference, I check at night with 0 new posts... Hell, sometimes I wish people would post stupid or repetitive questions just so I can answer them. Probably another candidate for hardcore cult item...

If you get feel bad about asking same questions, ask at night. "The Night Crew" will take care of ya.

we agree with silven, no one has a gun to your head sci, just dont answer. I think everyone would much rather have their posts answered by someone who actually cares and understands how it is to be a newb, and excited about everything they are learning and accomplishing than, snide remarks from someone who thinks their shit dont stink

Hey back off guys. This site is great but the search engine sucks. For the first 2 months I was on here I was told to search for the answers I needed. Only thing is, you have to scroll ALL the way down to search a forum. I was hitting the search button at the top of the page and wondering where the hell everyone got their answers. Even if you use the search at the bottom of the page, it brings up everything that might even be kinda relevant in order of appearance rather than what's more pertinent. If you wanna change how many of the same questions are answered everyday, email the administrator and ask him to simplify the search criteria. Otherwise, just shut up and don't answer the newbie's questions.
