Blueing cakes...
    #3340588 - 11/10/04 10:22 AM (12 years, 1 month ago)

Hello,

I birthed my cakes about two weeks ago. To my surprise this morning two of the cakes that were moving along the slowest have 30+ pins between the both.

Up until this point the cakes were 100% white But I noticed that on the top of each of these cakes have turned blue. I understand that the blue could be bruising, but, they have not been touched or bumped since they were birthed.

Could this be because of the pin set or does it sound like a contam. I would post some pics but I let a buddy borrow my digi cam for a vacation he was going on.

Edit: I guess I wait to see if it spreads? Any info will help :P

not necessarily. It happens sometimes. But shame shame shame! You see the myc on top? You didn't roll/double end case... shame shame shame!

After this flush, dunk/roll.

BTW, congrats!

Sam

Too dry. Check RH, mist a little more.

heh, I did dunk and roll but the myc grew over a lot of the verm. So I guess I shouldn't have said 100% white. But the Myc that I could see was always white

Anywho thank you for your replies, I feel closure now

If it's a contam. then it wouldn't look like it's stuck on there like a sticker( thats brusing) so it's probably brusing, my friend got brusing on his pins somehow, they turned out blue but they we're Great , Gl.

Probably to dry..since there are so many pins that puts a lot more depand on the substrate. If you keep the water up well you should end up with few aborts and a few nice looking cake with a big flush. To much h202 can do this as well but its usually dryness. Verm on top and sides and bottom would help from drying out too
