Casing method

I am soaking some vermiculite with water in a tupperware container and I am going to microwave it with the top on until it is very steaming. I am then going to let it cool and then (when it is the right humidity inside the vermiculite) I am going to put a few crumbled cakes into the center of the verm layers.

Verm casings work, but verm/coir, or peat moss are better IMO.

A verm casing will most definately increas your yield though.

Be sure to use 1 1/2" or 2" substrate depth for maximum yield. :thumbup:

you mean have the substrate in the middle be at least 1 1/2" thick , or off the bottom of the container?

IME straight verm doesn't help much. For me, the yield is less than cakes. Go get some coir and do 60/40. Or look up 50/50+. I think 50/50+ is preferred.
