shootin' blanks

picture this
B plus on hydrated lime soak straw cased with coco peat
large fruits over a long period of time but...
no spores - i mean few to none - couldnt get a print off them
id figured that it was either one of the following
1)Senescent strain - not likely as ive only subbed it 3 or for times on agar
2)Temp variations cold nights warm days has slowed growth a little
3)very very late sporulation - im holding out on the last

interesting thing is that fully mature shrooms retain a strong bluing reaction - due to no sporulation?

Whats the humidity and air exchange like.  Could be "overripe"  making them have a deep blue bruising and very little spores.  I've seen it.  It sucks 'cuz later the fruits just start to rot during drying anyway.

What was the humidity like?
It could be that it is too high. I have heard of this happening before, maybe you should leave a crack in the lid, and cross your fingers that things turn out for the better on later flushes.
Good luck either way.

I was here but now I'm not, I have gone to smoke some pot. Left this here to make a point, if you wanna get high all it takes is a joint

1)lime soak pasteurised wheat straw
2) no previous problems with coconut fibre casings
however this is just one of many dikaryons ive gotten out of the same old mass spore agar innoculations

could it be the cold?
no sign of rot and the humidity is good but in the lower range

If you are really worried about getting more spores because you are out of prints, or you no longer have any spawn or mycellium of any sort to make agar plates off of, try keeping 2 or 3 of the mushrooms that exhibit the most aggressive growth until they have become fully mature. I'm talking when the cap has totally overturned. Try printing then. If STILL nothing, in the most sterile enviroment possible, take a very sharp scalpal and transfer little chunks of the gills to agar plates. I have used this method on dried out, crusty, old shitaake with much success. I haven't really tried it with fresh shrooms or any of the psychoactive kind, but i have reason to suspect that this should work just fine. -Later
