Colonization of jars
    #3336403 - 11/09/04 10:32 AM (12 years, 3 months ago)

I have had some jars colonizing for 3 weeks and 2 days. The jars are white all over except the bottom of them have 2-3 very small (1/6 of an inch maybe) circles where in hasn't colonized yet. I noticed this 2 days ago and today they look the same. Do you think it might be some verm on top of the myco? I would take pictures, but I have to look pretty close to see it, so I dont think it would show up in a picture. thanks

Try this... you cake should be fairly shrunk by now...

Flip the jar and tap the jar gently on something hard like the table. This will make the cake fall on top of the verm and away from the jar. Leave the jar on its side for 3 days. It takes a little bit to start spreading again. If you end up with some substrate stuck on the jar, make sure you don't use that when you birth the cake.

Good luck

Sam

This is kind or a partial birth..only take them out of the jar enough to get some air up in there..make sure they dont come fully out of the jar!

Just flipping them as is may be enough.

I guess I should have mentioned this, but I removed the foil and flipped them over 1 week and 2 days ago. The bottom of the cake isnt touching the bottome of the jar. thanks again

Myc grows in spurts. Once the growth momentum slows, it takes awhile to pick it back up. Contam could prohibit further growth. Something to keep an eye out for. Leaving the jar on the side keep the condensation and myc piss away from the uncolonized area. Nothing special by leaving them on sides...

I wish you luck, though. That last little bit can be a bitch.
