I've noticed something.
    #3336064 - 11/09/04 05:20 AM (19 years, 4 months ago)

I've noticed that the party of "tolerance" seems to be pretty intolerant of anyone who lives in the south. It would seem that many of you fancy yourselves as intellectuals while those from the south are knuckle dragging backwoods hicks. It's funny really that this kind of racism is accepted and even promoted by the more "tolerant" of members on this site. I've heard the same ignorant arguments that only the christian right and wacko right wingers elected Bush and ONLY the proposals of Gay marriage and similar social issues brought people out to vote and it couldn't be possible that a majority of the voters just didn't like Kerry and his socialistic tendencies. Instead of trying to figure out reason why your candidate lost you'd rather personally attack those that voted differently by assuming that they're stupid and rednecks. I kind of saw that coming along with the: "election was rigged" accusations. (Just so ya know my guy Badnarick didn't win either)

I think many of you are fucked in the head and are filled with so much hate that you don't even see it. I mean seriously, many here favor killing those that have a different philosophy than you. Some ignorant fool will say they want to shoot Bush then tweedle dee and tweedle dum will come out and agree while trying to defend the rights of another group of people.

it's sad that many here HATE people when we've been taught all are lives to what hate brings us all. Hell even Yoda agrees with me: ... Hate leads to fear... Fear leads to SUFFERING

Now this is getting very scary indeed, I agree with you 100%.

If the left wants to ever have a chance at getting into power, it has to realize that berating people is not the way to win them over, same goes for Europe/US attitudes. They need to take a long hard look at what they have become and what direction they need to take.

I've heard those on the right saying this regularly regarding muslims etc, but those on the left? When have you heard them saying they favoured killing those that have a different philosophy?

Some ignorant fool will say they want to shoot Bush

I don't think this has anything to do with the idea of "favouring killing those that have a different philosophy". I can't remember the last time anyone said "shoot Bush" to be honest but you're probably confusing it with people who want him placed on trial in front of an international law court for his crimes against humanity along with Saddam.

I see where your coming from and there is a lot of double standards in play here. that said, i can understand why hate would arise if someone truly believed that another person was responsible for the deaths of over ten thousand people without any just cause. if you believe that, then i can see where the hate comes from.

i must call you out as well though of stereotyping the left, that we're all full of hate, that we want to kill bush, that we believe 9/11 conspiracies, that we believe the election was rigged, etc.

while i don't think that the election was rigged or that it was determined by the gay marriage initiatives, i also wouldnt say it came down to kerry's 'socialistic tendencies'. the fight came down to middle america where they simply didn't like kerry as a person, he came across as a man of little character, trying to dance his way to both sides of an issue and not standing resolute on a clear message. of course, his stances on single issues like gay marriage and abortion didnt help either.

it is also an interesting philosophical question, should the goal of tolerance include tolerance of intolerance? in terms of the first amendment, i guess it does, skinhead nazis can have street marches if they apply to do so.

No I dont think i missed the point at all. Your trying to point out some hypocrisies in the left wing. Well of course they have hypocrisies. Every living person on the planet is a hypocrite in some form or another. True christianity promotes tolerance for one neighbor. Alot of so called christians do not follow this teaching, in fact alot of them go to church so they can just call themselves christians and not have to think for themselves. If you believe that a large majority of evangelist were not attracted to this election in particular because of a few certain measures you are the ignorant one. If you look at the majority of the states that were bush won you'll see that they're in the bible belt. You try again.

with Bush, Ride, Ashcroft......

Any links to threads where people want to shoot Ride and Ashcroft?

I don't think anyone on the left could give a rats ass what Bush's philosophy is. He can gladly sit alone thinking his philosophy all he wants - they just want him to stop butchering thousands of innocent people.

sure it does..

Erm..no it doesn't. And I presume you're insisting that you havn't proclaimed killing muslims in any of your posts?

then you haven't been paying attention.

So can you give me a link to a post where a left wing poster says "shoot Bush because his philosophy is different to mine"?

I'm not saying that at all. As far as I'm concerned, someone can be as bigotted as they want, as long as they don't try to legislate that bigotry onto the rest of us.

That's funny, I never mentioned the left wing. I said the party of tolerance. I'm glad you did fill in the blanks for me.

doesn't make it any more more or less wrong to be a racist.

you're preaching to the choir, with that said it doesn't seem right to HATE these people because they fancy themselves as the christian right. I've never liked that aregument that christians are only christians because they can't think for themselves. That's a weak cop out. I consider myself a christian (I believe in God) and do quite a bit of thinking for myself, so much so that I denounced my Catholic upbringing.

I can assure you that it was a small percentage of the 53 +/- million that voted. I know many who are non religious that voted for Bush because they disliked Kerry. Perhaps there were more "Anyone But Kerry" voters out there than there were "anyone But Bush" voters.

Ohio is in the bible belt? ND and SD? Idaho? It is true that those states went to Bush that's not the. You missed the point again and didn't even deny the hate from the party of tolerance. Thanks for playing again. Feel free to try again.

what about the civil rights act which in a sense legislated against intolerance? do people agree with that legislation? I wasn't alive at the time, but i get the impression that racism and bigotry would be more widespread were it not for that movement, legislation, and the resulting cultural shift.
