Has anyone ever found cyans in the bay area? The hunting info says they can be found but i have never read a first hand account. If you have found them in past seasons please let me know, just so I know there out there. im determined to find them.
Thanks Suimush

Looks like it wil be time to gather Cali hunters

I've never personally found any Cyans, or any Psilocybe mushrooms in the Bay Area. Out here in the east bay the temps have been below 40 with this cold front, I've been checking woodchips in an apartment complex across the street from me and I've found wood loving mushrooms wich look a lot like Cyanescens, they've been growing since these rains on what I think are Alder chips.
But just based on a hunch that they're lookalikes I haven't even bothered to clip one and post it for ID purposes. I have read that there are like three poisonous lookalikes so...
My advice is to be checking the North Bay, if you find some on Mt. Tam, or head up to say... Stinson and the Coastal mountains. Muir woods etc. If you find any there, (let me know!) then you can start searching around here. Good luck to the Bay Area folks.

Oh yeah and we all know it's best to find your own to eat. But in case you guys were wondering there's a flood of homegrown cubes out on the streets, lots of ohzipples for less than a hundie.

The coastal mountains would seem like a fun hike, and from what the Oregonians are pulling outa their coastal mountains (go vc77!) it seems like a safe bet.

No this was at least 2-3 autumns ago. He brought the cyans to a small post-halloween party and divided them amongst partyiers around a kitchen table. All I remember was that they had almost no flavor, and I definatly tripped but not nearly as potent as what they are rumered to be(2-3 2cm caps and youre flying? slightly defying gravity at best!) I had twice that and talked my way out of going to jail to 4 cops on the peak. Yes i was thinking that marin/sonoma would be best. how about capitola/half moon bay or santa cruz.... the weather/terrain doesnt change significantly throughout these areas. Napa, mendocino county? How about mt. diablo? we always get ice on the mountain tops.

Hi, all. I'm still looking in the *Humboldt* Bay area. Hope they'll be around soon. I guess the weather needs to get a bit colder, though. I found some lookalikes, but they had a rusty brown spore print -- possibly Galerina autumnalis, but they didn't look quite like Galerina, either. Since they looked *very* similar to some of cyan pin pics I've seen posted, it impressed upon me that one has to be careful, and the need to take spore prints at least for beginners. I look forward to news from any Bay Area folks, and I'll share the news when and if they show up here. Good luck, everyone.

Im from SF and I'm keepin an eye out as well. It's been rainy/drizzling for a while and the temps are getting colder. (maybe a cold front... I dunno). I live on an island in the Bay, so there's always weird mushies growing about in the trees.
