How fast did your G2G take to colonize and what ratio and particular grain did you use (actually I probably don't really care cause I'm going to use rye )?

What is a good ratio that you can benefit from without stretching to mix too thin?

I personally like 1:7 rye because my PC fits 7qts at a time... Takes about 5 days to colonize.

if your "talkin" spore syringe to pickin prizes then your talkin 14 days give or take, for colonization.... there are to many factors to figure in the total time..... Cakes vs. Casings..... the temp throughout the whole process...
Just remember that this is the biggest patients game there is, and it could very easily be over a month before your first yield

not difficult, just that if the basics arent totaly understood, like temps, RH, lighting, Oxygen.... then its difficult, and of course experience with casings

okay grains are easier and work 100 times better i dont even understand why newbs are told to start with Brf( i started this way too and just contamned jars all but 2 now i just use grains WBS)
make the switch its easier also easier to case grains
-mike
and yes lighting guides the mushrooms but also good for inducing pinning so yeah until you have pins light is important after that they could probably fruit in complete dark

I was wondering if i could get into it soon. I grew from cakes about 10 yrs ago, before i had the internet. I just started in again and i cant believe the results people are getting. This casing deal is way new to me and it makes me excited to get this going again. If I only had this then!!!! I need to look into grain now

I've used a single quart of rye to knock up 2 dozen jars before..could have done a few more too..probably 30 or so. You only need a spoonfull. They'll be done in like 5-8 days depending on how much you use but even if you only use like 10 small rye berries colonized per quart they'll still be done in about a week. Once the myc gets going in 2 days you shake and spread it around and from there its only a few days more..usually another 4 for me. I generally do a quart into anywhere from 12-20 jars depending on how many of that strain I want. I think I'll be doing 30 for a few jars of Z's I have going soon. I only have 4 jars of it so if I put 30 per jar I should be able to fill her up with Z's. I love the yeilds of these!
