a friends substrate

this is a basic tech stolen from several others.

steep 625ml penningtons and 1/2cup quinoa with 325ml water plus a little over 1/2cups, sorry for the mixed measurements.
Then make up ala pf tech a little under1/4 cup brf plus 2/3 cup verm plus around1/8 cup ground flax. add around 1/4 cup water. Make two of these pftechish mixes. add 1cup birdseed/quinoa to 1/2 cup pf tech type stuff.
the friend is working with adding in rye flower too. Try it out if you want

this is for about 5 pint jars, half it if needed

Flour won't help a grain recipe. It'll just turn your substrate into a brick.

The only advantage of flour is that you don't need a pressure cooker to sterilize it. That's the whole reason for the pf tek, cakes, etc..

My two pence.

Why would flour not help it? It would be more nutrients at least. There are many recipies with flour and seeds and verm. Anyway, i just thought i would post my friends tech he addapted from a few others, because it has consistently been good.

hawk's magic formlua employs both brown rice flour and flax seed meal, not sure if that last one is really a flour but it's close enough ;)

You know, you're probably right. If you're innoculating w/ spores, a little flour would probably boost your germination success on grain. If using agar wedges, it would slow things down because you probably could no longer shake it.

As far as adding extra nutrients, well, flour is made out of grain. If you want to supplement your grain w/ nutrients, add a multivitamin. foaf has had success like that.

Yeah, the flower is just for color. ha.
No, agar works, it shakes. this is not really an orginal idea, just what a friend does and he thought i might give some people a good place to start.
