condensing water on cakes

i've got my cakes in the terrarium now, the problem is the water is condensing on the cakes and soaking both the top and bottom layers of verm.(pf double ended case), temps are low 66-72 degree F, humidity ranges 90-94%, im using an untrasonic, and for some reason i can't really get the RH past 94%, not only is the verm. getting soaked but the pins are forming beads of water on them, which is not good, correct!! my terrarium is a 10 gallon aquarium with drip shield, and the lid is a frame with plastic(basically straight PF), i cut a small hole in the plastic which a tube feed the mist from the ultrasonic, everything is basically sealed so my questions are:
how do i boost the RH without getting the condensing problem with the cakes????

You don?t have to boost humidity past 95%.

That ultrasonic is probably making so much moisture that it's hard for you to get an accurate reading.... It's pretty hard to believe that condensation would occur on cakes when the RH is at,below,or slightly above 95%... The monkeys tell me that ultrasonics produce ALOT of humidity to the point where the RH meter flips out (meaning that it doesn't take accurate measurements)..... They also told me to tell you that you should only turn on those suckers 1ce a day for 4 hours.....oh and with the condensation... just get some ptowel and gently touch it to your cakes so the moisture is absorbed.... then try to get that RH down... peace i hope that helps...

the humidity guage is the one from radio shack and it did occur to we that it may be "out of whack", and i have also been padding the cakes down with paper towel to remove the beads of water but i don't want to be this twice a day, and the ultrasonic is on a 6 event timer 10 min. on every 4 hours, i may cut back i little and see what happens, also doesn't the beads of water on the pins make them abort? i appreciate the advice

Hey, .... 1st and most important is to get the humidity DOWN.... it's going to break that RH guage (my monkeys have gone thru 5 in their years)..... basicly what happens is it gets wet.... and breaks (kinda defeats the purpose dont you think??? ...... My monkeys said that they are most postitive that your RH is WAY to HIGH.... If you can only look at your terrarium once you should only have the ultrasonic on 1ce or 2ce... (if you go for 2 times then it should only be on for 2hrs each time).... When you make your visit during the day (or whenever)make sure you fan your crop by hand.... peace

If in fact your terr. is sealed up pretty tight then you don't need so much from the humidifier. Your pumping in alot of water droplets and they have no place to go, so when more are introduced then they just condense on the cakes and sides of the terr. You might try lowering the output from the humidifier or putting a small hole at the bottom of the terr. so that water and a little humidity can drain out.
