That's it, wow.
So yeah. Walked outside, tripping on 2ce (first fullblwon experience) and look up....to see my first EVER aurora Borealis unfolding.
It was just amazing...w.atching the winds of particles from our sun hit and ionize and scatter, leaving behind almost subliminal trails of color.... At one point it looked like a big morphing splat of some ginormous paintball in green and red and colors i don't even really have the words to describe just streaming down the sky.......
Needless to say, i plopped my happy ass down and watched it until it died.
Fucking gorgeous.

I didn't realize what it was for a minute.....but it was GREAT.
And i'm just outside Detroit, so the sheer fact that i could see it at all is fairly amazing.
Just when i was thinking the visuals weren't that spectacular too.

Fer sure man, fr sure.
This one took up over 180 degrees at times.....and had one HELL of an ending burst.
At times it was like green and red spotlights were shining down....the same kind of effect you get from holes in clud cover and a ray of sunlight breaks thru.
Couldn't have planned it better.

I just got in from watching it for a half hour. Saw two meteors within 5 minutes of each other. I'm in a suburb outside Detroit, in Oakland county. I've never seen the aurora in person, only in photos. It was the most beautiful thing I've ever experienced. Honestly, I doubt any hallucinogen could top that. Very vivid colors for a little bit, then it kinda faded off. Oh man, I'm still in awe.

My earliest recollection of the Aurora Borealis, the Northern Lights, is from a song of the 1950s called "the Northern Lights of Old Aberdeen", which I always took to be a reference not to Scottish traffic arrangements but to the celestial phenomenon of bands, curtains or streamers of coloured light that appear in the sky predominantly in the Arctic and Antarctic regions of the earth. In the Antarctic, the lights are called the Aurora Australis, or Southern Lights. They are visible, though less frequently, also outside those zones. I do not know how often the Northern Lights appear in northern Scotland but in the far north of this country, in Finnish Lapland, the number of auroral displays can be as high as 200 a year. In southern Finland the number is usually fewer than 20.
Folklore abounds with explanations of the origins of the spellbinding celestial lights. In Finnish they are called "revontulet", which means "fox fires" a name derived from an ancient fable of the arctic fox starting fires fire or spraying up snow with its brush-like tail. No matter that in English "foxfire" is a luminescent glow emitted by certain types of fungi growing on rotten wood. The true story is that the sun is the father of the auroras.

Yes, it was here. See other poster in my area who saw it.
2ex: 8-12 hours is the expected time of effect...after effects lasting up to 12 more (altho minor, IME) Good shit
one more time: Yes, i saw it. It's probably still going on, but i left after the first act.

I caught it from the plane tonight on my way back in from Arizona... unfortunately my batteries were dead by the time it was visible. it probably wasnt as spectacular as what you got but at least I saw a little something

Now that makes me curious....you were what, 30K up?
If it was visible this far down, it must've been HUGE,
Time to check the space websites.
It seriously had me flat n my back for about half an hour.

Why?
Cheap seats are the best. All sorts of new place opportunities.
