CaCO3 is used as a buffer(PH balancing). It has no nute value for the shroomies. I don't think calcium supplement works as a buffer, though.

Maybe if mushrooms had bones, it'd help.

I just wanted to check if any of the ingredients on this vitamin calcuim suplement would be beneficial to mushies. Or does any one see anything that would specifically be bad for fungus?

Here is what is written on the back of the bottle:

calcium(carbonate, amino acid chelate, citrate-malate)500MG
magnesium (oxide, aspartate)250MG
vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) 100IU
stinging nettle [tops] 20mg
horse tail [whole herb]20mg
spirulina 20mg
glutamic acid HCI 20mg

other ingredients: cellulose, stearic acid, modified cellulose gum, silica, magnesium stearate.

You should try it!

I do believe that magnesium can be detrimental to mycelium, but it doesen't really contain very much... but then again, it doesen't really contain very much calcium either.

Is there any book of Stamets that coveres how mycelium eat, and what they eat?

I've been using some cheap crushed oyster calcium pills I got for a buck at a grocery store for my casing. It seems to be doing fine so far. It will be birthed today.
