A great movie.

If anyone needs help envisioning certain aspects of existentialism (and it's multiple schools of thought)... check this movie out. Thoroughly entertaining and well thought out.

I thought so too! I just saw it last night... with a nice green stripe running down the side of the screen the whole movie!

I keep hearing about this movie from this one guy. I just haven't had a chance to see it. I'm even more interested now, since I'm hearing about it from even more people.

Mark Wahlberg impressed me a lot in this movie. I loved his character!

Yeah, I just saw it too..

very unique.. felt like I was watching a play in a way all through the first halfhour... after a while the style sticks in your mind and you're able to just watch the rest of it without thinking something's off.

Great lessons being sent out in all directions.. especially towards anyone who fits the template of Jude Law's character.

What'd you guys think of the dinner-in-the-suburbs scene?

I think it did a good job of making the point that coincidences should take a backseat to simply looking at things logically to find answers.

Oh, and it was hilarious. Mark Wahlberg screaming at the father was great.

I wondered what significance of the fact that, he wasnt ready to uncover his identity, but yet he went there anyway, and it was a really bad scece... like something revealed itself and it was just a catalyst to the bad scenario. What were YOUR thoughts about it?

So it's seriously worth it to see this movie? I usually hate the "comedies" with Jason Schwartzman... how similar is the humor in this movie to Rushmore?

Don't go see it then... it's obviously just a bunch of drivel.

I'll have to see the movie a few more times to clear it all up, but...
I think it was hilarious.
Daughter: "We don't have to ask those kinds of questions do we, mom?"
Mother: "Oh no, dear."

Picture fucking perfect. It was a great example of so many similar attempts on my part to get everyday people to think. Granted, that scene was a little more awkward and confrontational than I prefer (I usually leave strangers alone when they start getting angry), but it serves it's purpose and sets up the conclusion. If you can't have moderation between two extremes, then you've got to achieve a balance somehow. Kind of like this forum.

I just saw it. A fucking great movie (thanks Sclorch). Although it is the kind of movie you sort of expect to see some people leaving early, I was surprised to see that a lot of film critics mistook symbolisms for surreal nonsense. Anyway, everyone in S&P should take the time watch it.

Gets my "BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR" award, without a doubt.

It takes a lot of courage to go out there and radiate your essence.

I know you scared, you should ask us if we scared too.  If you was there, and we just knew you cared too.

I suppose it depends on your perspective.

I don't draw a line between the physical world and the mental world.
As it is now, DNA (Genetics) is required for the existence & essence combo we humans experience.

Also, in the "essence vs. existence" discussion, doesn't essence address the incorporeal nature of experience? I point this out because you seem to be using the word "essence" for the corporeal (genetics).

by "incorporeal nature of experience"
im guessing you mean our cognitive awareness

so i ask you
can genetics not decide the parameters of our cognitive awareness?
