    #3330354 - 11/07/04 06:24 PM (12 years, 3 months ago)

Is it possable to collect wild spawn of cyan. to use for indoor cultivation? If so should I place directly in to wood chips (sterlized?) or on card board? I cant realy find to much info on this and I would like to attempt to do this at home!!!!!

I would say that it is certainly possible... I am sure the hardest part will be getting a sterile outdoor sample.

Transfer onto agar media. Then cut an uncontamed wedge out. After you cut the wedge out, I would suggest transfering it onto another agar dish to make sure its sterile.

Or...take a tissue sample.

Cool Thanks for the advice. I'm wondering about taking a tissue sample? Are you referring to tissue from the middle of the stem? I was under the impression that a could just add a large clump of micelium to Alder chips in a 5:1 ratio, I believe it was Gartz or Stamens who wrote a paper about this. But I'm new to this, so i thought i would just ask. I believe I should have a fair amount of material to work with because I found a decent amount in my yard, and considering the fact that I will be renovating my yard next spring I wanted to try and save as much of the little guys a possible!!!! Once again Thanks for the info!!!! Wish me luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!
