the world's biggest questions (with answers!)
    #3328881 - 11/06/04 11:30 PM (12 years, 5 months ago)

Hehe... but are they the  right answers?

You decide

(I just wrote this, I was watching a movie while I did it so it came out almost like automatic writing, basically this is my list of the worlds five most important philosophical questions, and my off the top of the head, unedited answers. read, enjoy and criticize please)

Questions:

1. What is our essence (nature, core?)

2. How should we live?

3. How should we act towards others? (Fellow man)

4. Is there a conscious creator (of us, and of reality? is there a god? or a GOD?)

5. Is there consciousness after death? (Reincarnation, heaven, hell,  something? )

Alright, now i've served up some big questions I think you would agree. What follows are my answers. Maybe you can find something in them to further your own quest. Please read them, cuz it?s going to take quite a while to type this up.

Answers:

1. What is our essence?:

-our essence transcends the physical body
-we are that which observes (I think, therefore I am)
-we are consciousness?
-we are  the source  of consciousness.
-we are the sum of our self accepted labels? (E.g. human, white/black, male/female, young/old, rich/poor, lucky/unlucky etc)
-we are  that which accepts or rejects those labels.

Final conclusion: we are that which accepts and rejects our labels (ego classifications). We are that which observes/thinks. We transcend the physical.

2. How should we live?

-JOYOUSLY and IN THE MOMENT
-if life is short (we shall accept for now that it is, relatively speaking) than we should savor/live every single experience to the fullest. This is best achieved by cultivating  maximum awareness , of the things within us and around us at any given time.

-we should live without regret. Analyze each experience as to how it could be useful as a lesson, and then let it be. Remorse and regret serve no purpose but to detract from enjoyment of subsequent experience. Realize that, and do not indulge in remorse.

-live as a warrior (as described by Carlos Castaneda) that is: think and deliberate before you act/decide, but once you do, move on with no regrets, and devote your full attention to each subsequent action/decision. Live in the present.

-Do as thou will, and follow the true dictates of your soul, as revealed to you by the signals of the emotion called LOVE.

-strive to separate your emotions from  sources of emotion. That is, realize that your emotions rely on one thing only,  you .
What you perceive as necessary to your happiness (health, wealth, fame, drugs, sugar, etc) are not. UNLESS YOU DECIDE TO MAKE IT SO.

-once you realize this, you can begin the process of separating joy from  sources  of joy, thus entering a state of constant joy (and also, love and thankfulness) regardless of what is going on in your external reality.

Live like: Air: no matter how much black paint you throw at the air, you cannot stain it black. Be like this, living in love regardless of how much shit life throws at you.

Live like: water: no matter what awkward container your force water into, it fills it with comfort and ease. No matter the shape of the body or home or country you find yourself in, relax, and be comfortable.

Final conclusion: live in constant joy, love and thankfulness, through the process of right thought.

3. How should we act towards others? (This is a continuation/ specification of number 2, how should we live)

-be joyful of the opportunities lessons and experiences presented by every single person you meet.

-as with all emotions (see 2) your reactions to people originate in  you . Nothing someone says, does or  is  can  make you angry. Only you can choose when to be angry , sad, etc. therefore, just as you love life unconditionally, so should you love people unconditionally. Realize that no one can force you to feel bad, and you remove their negative control over you.

-Respect the right of all people to live, act and speak as they will, but do  whatever is necessary to protect your own rights to do the same.

-realize that someone?s actions are the result of their unconscious internal programming, If you seek to change their actions, do so by changing that conditioning, but do so ONLY OUT OF LOVE AND CONCERN FOR THAT PERSON. (This separates black magic from white)

Final conclusion: love others unconditionally. Respect their rights of freedom but kill or maim if necessary,  if they threaten your own. Change someone?s mind only out of deep love and respect.

4.  Is there a conscious creator (god) ? :

-that which we perceive as external to us, as 'reality' is in fact entirely dependent on our internal programming (every single thing that we perceive and how we perceive it, can be changed by altering that programming). Dreams are an example of how the mind (consciousness) is capable of creating realities 100% separate from any external stimuli
-therefore, the consciousness itself is the source of reality (without consciousness there is no 'world' no 'reality' "

-so. If we came into being as consciousness of our  own will or accord (voluntary birth?) then WE ARE THE ONLY GODS, as sole creators of our own reality.

-if however, a greater being breathed consciousness into us, then we are 'mini dreamers' (mini gods, pseudo gods) dreaming 'mini dreams' (mini realities, pseudo realities)  within the mind of the universal dreamer  (God) . This would concur with the biblical sentiment of man being created in god's image. (Not physically but rather in our capacity to dream are we made in his image)

final conclusion: either we are gods creating our own realities, or we are demigods, dreaming in the mind of the universal dreamer, GOD.

5. is there consciousness after death?:

-if the previous conclusion, that life is of the nature of a dream (accepted as functional metaphor only) is correct, than death can be no different. (It is also of the nature of a dream)

-as we know, only two things can follow a dream. One is another dream. The next is a return to true reality, or waking up.

-applied to death, the implications of this are as follows. The first (a new dream follows death, the end of the old dream) would indicate some form of reincarnation, beginning a new dream/life, in a new place time and body.

-the second, 'waking up'' would indicate entering a new kind of life, more real than the previous illusionary dreams we have woken up from at the moment of death. This could entail Heaven, or the Buddhist concept of Nirvana, the clear light. Or it might mean something so far from our dream world that we have no way to conceive of it before we get there. Either way...

Final Conclusion: There is consciousness after death

Thanks for listening guys and girls.

""5. Is there consciousness after death? (Reincarnation, heaven, hell, something? )""

is there life after death?
death could be the end? but the end of what? the end of the beginning? the beginning of the end? could you separate them?
is there life after life?

death is only mind changing The state or condition of being conscious?

death is change changing? i die every time? :P

OK, now you should apply this knowledge.

--------------------
"A warrior is a hunter. He calculates everything. That's control. Once his calculations are over, he acts. He lets go. That's abandon. A warrior is not a leaf at the mercy of the wind. No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

thanks guys.

Yeah, utilizing this in day to day life is definetly the key now, and its something im working on. My uncle says that as a gemini i can think or talk my way around any problem, but putting that into action is my big difficulty.

In the interior reflections post, you said Nature has no meaning to you. Something about only the ego gives meaning to things and if you are to be egoless, you should refrain from giving meaning to what just is.

You're funny.

Moonshoe, indeed geminis annoy people. We talk talk talk about ideals and ideas and being an air sign have our heads in the clouds but how much gets grounded out is another story. I think its just because we can't stay on the ground long enough to see the bajillion ideas all through. Some get grounded.

But you know what, other people have taken many ideas I've talked talked talked about and grounded them out to help themselves.

Maybe the air signs are like winged messengers that fly back and forth with new ideas and ideals. The fire signs bring driving passion to them, the water signs bring emotional meaning to them and the earth signs ground them out into this reality. We all have bits of these aspects in us with one more predominant, and in a tag team effort of relays, we make this place happen and share in the group effort.

Just an illustrated perspective on this from the clouds. The team effort is where it is at and not in anyone player or nothing would happen or change.

Hi jiggy, glad to see you've been reading

Meaning is subjective, never said it wasn't.

We are the ones who give meaning.

In this post, I was referring to applying meaning to the core essence of these truths rather than the words. Rather than making it a nice read, make it a nice reality

Edit: missed this - "if you are to be egoless, you should refrain from giving meaning to what just is"

Never said that at all jiggy, perhaps you misunderstood me. All I mentioned in that post was that one does not need sensory input to match their strange ideals of 'asthetics' in order to 'feel good' or whatever, and that the core of feeling and being rests completely on the observer (not the input).

5. Is there consciousness after death? (Reincarnation, heaven, hell,  something? )

No.. at least, nothing you would recognize as your personal experience while human.
