A cpl dunking and casing questions
    #3326467 - 11/06/04 02:08 AM (12 years, 1 month ago)

I cased two cakes 3 days ago and put them into the incubator. I check them today and see some ropy mycelium growth coming up. I take them out and bring them to my closet. During this I shook it a little and covered up the growth. Should I put it back in the dark incubator and wait for it to grow some more? That's what I've done but I just want some input.

I dunked a cake 3 days ago I couldn't case it because the Vermiculite caught fire because I used a cheaply made plastic container. Is the cake okay since it will be 4 days since it was first dunked?

Vermiculite doesen't burn. It is rock.

Do you mean that you've had the cake under water for 3 days now? I've heard that they get nasty after 48+ hours, so beware...

If you mean that you dunked it for 24hrs 3 days ago... and then.. (put it back into the jar?), it should be fine.

I should've explained this better. Well the plastic melted so I had a smallfirery mess in my microwave.

I dunked it 3 days ago and it's still underwater. I just drained the water off and looked at the cake. It looks okay except for a little bruising. I'll case it anyway seperate from the rest. Maybe it'll do something.
