The Election's Over.... what's next for YOU?

All the bullshit aside...
How will the dissatisfied 48% of this nation have their voices heard? What's the best plan of action now - are you gonna bitch that "Bush stole the election!!"? Or are you going to take the high road and learn to compromise on some issues?
And to the 52% - is it just a "fuck you, liberal losers!"? Or are you going to take the high road and be capable of compromise and not force your barely-more-popular views on the rest of the nation?

Actually what's going on right now from the non libbies is a little "told you so" and "nah nah na na nahhhh". Nothing bad, we just want to get it out of our system before we alalize the Bush administration. It aught to be interesting to see how he does without the fear of being elected agin. My biggest fear is the Patriot Act and similer rights violations.

I think the DNC/DLC should be rebuilt or abandoned. I think we should keep the heat on Bush and the Christian fundamentalists.

Same thing as when the election was still happening. Trying to grow my shrooms. I'm just wondering how long it will be before somebody gets a wild hair up their ass and tries to take Bush out. With all the hate talk I hear around here, I have a feeling it might happen.

Bio, I want to settle Iraq down and then let them go about doing most of the building. Right now we are shouldering the burden but I don't want that forever.
I do imagine we will have some troops in Iraq and Afganistan for some years to come. But they don't have to be at current levels if peaceful situations are on the ground. I would like to bring most of them home.
I don't want to invade anyone else right now. I think Iran can take care of itself now that we have put the squeeze on them through Iraq and Afganistan.
I don't want to go to East Asia and invade North Korea either. China is the big bear in that neighborhood, and they are the best able to take out that regime. Getting rid of some of the bad boys makes the neighborhood lonelier of Kim Il Sung. I am more concerned with stabilizing Iraq and Afghanistan in the next 4 years.
Also, the peace process in the holy land might come up to the top of the docket. So many Presidents have tried to broker a deal and all have failed. Bush is the first one to call for a two state solution. Now that the old man is dying they might actually have a chance.
We give 3 billion in aid to Israel every year. I would tell the Palistinians that if they vow to set up a peacefull democracy they could have that 3 billion for infrastruture for the next 4 years. I would phase out aid to Israel because we would have done much to pacify the region. It would be nice to get that settled.
I am not a complete neo-con, though I confess to not knowing what that means. I am holding out hope that we can transform the middle east. People say that it can't be done. If it can it would be quite a story, and a good story at that.

Better question, "What did Jesus do?" Why did that whore abandon her profession? There should be an investigation and I think Greg Palast should conduct it.

theres no more point in arguing against the neocons..unless the diebold factor somehow materializes beyond the conspiracy-theory pages...all im asking is that they be more upfront and say its about oil..since they dont have to worry about pissing off voters...

well i was moving back to denmark in january anyway - now i think i will marry a friend of mine for citizenship - just so i don't have to worry about a draft (and yes, call me crazy - but 4 more years of Bush means 4 more years of war (and in my own personal opinon, i think the repubs will be in charge for at least 8 more years) - and people have already stopped volunteering for the armed services. I certainly am not going to die so some douchebags can dupe the american public and get even richer...

Well, Bush's win was a disappointment but I generally take the long view: all that goes up, must come down.
The Republicans now have the White House and even larger majorities in both houses. They've had a lock on the federal government for the last two years and will for at least the next two. At this point they have more than enough rope to hang themselves with, and it's only a matter of time before they make one whopper of a blunder that really sours the swing voters against them.
I am ready to move to another country at the drop of a hat, however, if the administration makes further moves to curtail civil liberties. I will retain my citizenship however and will definitely vote in the next election.

Moving out of the country when they take our liberties is the easy way out, if you happen to have the means...I'm rising up and taking it to the streets if they stsrt passing the PA part 3 or 4...by the time this administration is over there will be millions to come with me. What I'm really afraid of is who and how many justices will GWB appoint in the next 4 years since he can pretty much pick whoever he wants with his congress. This could fuck us all for the next 50 years. The best we can do is potest and spread the word and try to demolish the Democratic party (since they are down) and create a new one with less corporate and statist ties.

You're right, it is the easy way out, and I admire your determination to get out there and do something to effect change.
It's generally been my experience, however, that one cannot fight ignorance with anger. One cannot sway it with persuasion. One cannot even teach it, because the inherent nature of hardcore ignorance is rarely to listen and never to learn--that's how ignorant people become and stay that way.
All that is left is for the ignorant to burn themselves repeatedly on the fires of their own making, and hopefully be driven by that suffering to look for a better way. Then you have to be there at the ready, suppressing the urge to say "I told you so!", and welcome them with open arms into the fold of the sane.

The outcome of this election didn't mean much to me. Since I tend to root for the underdog, I had a small preference for Kerry, but it didn't matter much that he lost.
In fact, that Bush won really made my day. His re-election will mean the inevitable rise in US deaths, and there's nothing quite as good as that. It's fun watching you fuckers squirm
