older pressure cooker

i have an older pressure cooker with a weighted metal device with 3 different holes for 5 10 and 15 psi. do i just i place it on the little middle notch or i missing a part or what

Have a pic... or a link to one that looks like it (search google)? Hard to say... but if I saw it I could help. You want it at 15 psi to steralize though. 15 psi for an hour for most things.

this isn't the pressure cooker i have but the point is, there is only a weighted thing that sits on a metal notch on the top. nothing else, no guages, nothing. i assume i just set it there and wait for it to jingle er? (theres no other possibilities..)

This page was shown to me and helped to explain in a little more detail my pressure cooker. You don't need any gauges, just make sure that the metal notch regularly jiggles. Dont let it jiggle nonstop though because then your heat is too high and you'll evaporate all the water inside the PC. I tried to make sure that mine would do it every 10 seconds, give or take a few seconds.
