Spawning Dung?
    #332309 - 06/02/01 10:53 AM (23 years, 9 months ago)

Could a chunk of a fruiting cake be safely removed in order to spawn some cow dung, or is it best to wait until the cake is finished fuiting. It would be great to just skip going through the mmgg again with spores and waiting all that time. Is the a big risk of contamination using mycelium for spawning dung?Hope I can get some help on this one.

You could do that, but you won't likely succeed. When the cake has already fruited, the mycelium is no longer as vigorous. What you could do is place the cake in a tray and cover it with some dung. You'll have a higher rate of success with that, but make sure you pasteurize the dung in the oven.
