Interesting. I know some plants have thick cell walls that can survive freezing temps, with out the cell organelles actually freezing(Causing death). However I'm not sure about myc. I wouldn't be surprised if it survives though - myc is pretty tuff, in my friend experience. I know it can be killed at high temps. but I have no clue about extremely low temps. You should definitely try to pin it after it thaws. Also keep us posted, let us know how it goes.

Also if that works - it will be a break through in mycology, cause mold cant survive freezing temps. Any time someone got contam they could simply free the cakes...

So I'm thinking its not gonna work - somebody would have thought of it already....

Never tried, or read anything about this. But based on what I know I bet it might survive. My guess is it will bruise, slow down a lot so it can recover, then come back. I imagine it will be more likely to get a contam now that you have weakened the myc and are putting it in an enviroment where it will need to fight. I would almost say to leave it in the jar for a couple three days before you birth just to keep it as safe as you can. Anyone agree or disagree with me? this is an intresting subject

It wont be a breakthrough of any sorts..happens often. The whole thing didnt freeze..just some water. I havn't had it do anything to a dozen or so casings its happened to yet.
