oven tek

I was thinking about trying the oven tek for extra sterilization measures, although I haven't encountered any problems yet(knock on wood). Does the hot air coming out of the oven really move contaminants away? Does it pose a threat to spores/colonized substrate in the process of inoculating cakes/preparing a casing/making a syringe? Any help would be appreciated.

I tried a jar of corn in the oven and it worked ok. It made too many kernels burst IMO.

ymhrswrider, are you saying you tried to pasteurize a corn jar in the oven or something?

I soaked the corn for 12 hrs, simmered for 1hr 15 min, and then filled up the jars. I used coffee filters instead of the tops and covered with tin foil. They then went into a pot with an inch or two of water. I covered the pot and stuck it in the oven for about 2 hrs(I can't really remember exactly how long). After it came out the oven, I stuck the pot on the stovetopp and boiled for about 30 min for good measure. Can you tell I was bored. I finally broke down and got a PC the other day.

um... thats what i thought you were trying to say.. That is not the oven tek, that is just retarded. He was referring to the oven tek to use for a sterile environment for innoculating, preparing syringes etc... not pasteurization..
