Will knots on a cake turn blue before pinning or is this cobweb?

Ok, I don't have any pics. What happened is I birthed one of my cakes early by accident and it broke in half exposing some of the subtrate. I put it into the incubator anyway and overnight the spot was covered in what I thought was fluffy myc with some knotty looking spots. It has been in the incubator for about 7 days. Today I noticed that some of the knots where the myc(?) covered the exposed subtrate had a blue color under the knots. The myc that covered the exposed parts was fluffy but not really stringy or grey. Also, the cakes are on top of some moist verm. There appears to be a little bit of the same white myc starting to grow just a bit on the verm near the cake. After the first day in the incubator, the growth on the exposed part didn't really grom any more.

Is this just the beginning of pins? I thought they were suppossed to start off as brown.
Does this sound like cobwebs?
I live in a pretty dry environment if that makes a difference.

Doesn't sound like cobweb or any other problem for that matter to me. If it is just a blueing and it's not spreading I think you're good. If you handled these areas at some point that would account for the bruising. I say just keep all your pinning triggers going and good luck. Any reason you have your cakes sitting on moist verm? Rolling it in it would be a better plan.

if the blue spreads you are hosed
keep an eye on it although its probably just bruising

good luck!

A drug person can learn to cope with things like seeing their dead grandmother crawling up their leg with a knife in her teeth, but no one should be asked to handle this trip.
