testing syringe for contamination

I have a syringe full of liquid mycelium from honey water. I have a few sterile disposable petri dishes and I was wondering how I could test it for contaminant. Should I use honey again? If so, how should I prepare it(I used a PC to sterilize the HW last time). Anything else I could use that is easy to get and use?

Make an agar plate, squirt a minute amount of solution onto the plate and spread the solution across the plate.
Within 1 week you will know if you have a sterile solution.
Another option is to prepare a substrate and inoculate onto the substrate. I usually do a test jar of grain before inoculating a whole batch of jars.

wouldn't contams grow in the honey jar if it were contam'd? or do you mean that the syringe got contam'd in the process?

A liquid culture is hard to visually screen for contamination. A lot of fungi look the same in liquid culture.
