I think cake growth sometimes depends on perfect conditions, mainly correct RH and temps. Flush size often depends on substrate used as well as well as a bit of luck.

I've got nicotine stains on my fingers.
I've got a silver spoon on a chain.
I've got a grand piano to prop up my mortal remains

PEACE

Hegz is right about the conditions so try to make this a priority along with keeping an eye on your cakes when you notice some of the mycelium coming threw the casing layer in some spots but not in others take and put a little bit of casing material on those first sightings and you will get a more even flush.
