I want to rip my car stereo out when I listen to NPR
    #3317591 - 11/04/04 12:16 AM (12 years, 1 month ago)

Argh!!! Ack!!!

If I hear one more soft-voiced guy on a "news" show with an
undoubtedly liberal stance, that is then followed by some "hip"
jazz that some liberal yuppie in NYC(who subscribes to the Nation)
would listen to, I will go insane.

Note: I also want to send a brick through my TV when watching
Fox News and they keep repeating these flashy "Fair and Balanced"
graphics that make swooshing noises. Fair and balanced my ass.
Why can't organizations just admit their bias?

God, do I know what it's like.
For the first 12 or 13 years of my life I had to listen to NPR for hours a day because my mom was always playing it. For a little kid with ADD, it was like being in hell.

What's disturbing is that as I'm getting older, I'm starting to actually enjoy that style. I know it's disturbing (and biased), but I'd rather listen to it or read the Wall Street Journal than watch the entertainment circus on MSN or Fox. A pox on my mom for passing this off to me.

Public radio and Public television are one of the few alternatives that are programmed for citizens, not consumers. You can go fuck off right into your commercial programming if you'd like it better. I'm not trying to defend all of their programming; I mean, "New Dimensions"? Ooh. That shit sucks hardcore. But, seriously, get a fucking clue if that's your bitchtalkingpoints on NPR. Maybe you just have a bad local affiliate, tho.

Public television: cool
Public radio: whiney bleeding hearts
Fox News: Really loud

When I listen to NPR, I can't help but get the impmression that all
of the males I hear speaking on it(the hosts and the guests) are
all wearing "nifty little sweaters" that they bought from some
hippy co-op, they all have "Nader" buttons on themselves, they
drink cappucinos and espressos, they all would piss themselves if
physically confronted(and maybe even cry), have extensive Chomsky
book collections, went to a very liberal college and became more
educated than they are intelligent, and consider themselves "progressive".

I realize I don't know if they are all like this for a fact, but that
is the vibe NPR gives off.

When I start to get irate in the car(if NPR is annoying me too much),
I start to fantasize about doing ignorant stuff to NPR. Like
clubbing a baby seal on video and sending the tape into the studio
for example.

Hmm.  Sounds like you're projecting your own head onto what you hear.  Go over to npr.org.  And, seriously, I'm generally trying to listen to what the people are saying; I don't worry about that kind of shit.  Transmission of ideas, without coloring images, is what NPR is about.  I understand what you're saying, but, it's a pretty gay complaint.  I'd love to party hella with some of the NPR people.  I'm sorry, but you know fucking Linda Wertheimer had a bit o' the Acid in her day.

I live in the middle of nowhere. In the car I get NPR, a station
that plays pop and lite-rock from the 70's, 80's, and 90's, and
five country stations.

Listening to NPR is like picking at a scab. It doesn't feel good,
but you keep doing it anyway.

Well, I really hope we never meet then.  Which I'm sure we won't.
You're obviously a latent scat-obsessed homosexual if you can't get past your hang-ups about "sensitive men" on the radio.

On the XM satellite commercials, all they seem to play is Black
Eyed peas songs.

I'll be honest. I like NPR. I like the news they cover and feel that its actually pretty balanced, I like the fact that NPR does not also own a myriad of other revenue generating ventures that might compel it to bend, stretch, or obfuscate the truth. But I'll be damned if they don't have some annoying pretentious on air talent. I can't stand the dude on "This American Life"(I had a job with a co-worker that thought the show was the best thing since sliced bread and would play it with an iron-fist, successfully ruining any chance I had of enjoying it here or there.)... The chick that does most of the anchoring and interviews... Fine most of the time, but I have heard her be a condescending bitch at times.

I have a pretty good affiliate, so the music ranges from elevator to kick ass.

All in all I'll pick NPR news over any other, and usually the music over any other station. But I really wish they'd work on diversifying the "show" portions, like have some show with someone politically incorrect, mildly abrasive(in a take-no-shit kinda way), who loves freedom, but hates bullshit, lies, and most of the establishment...
