Ha Noi (VNA) - A valuable kind of medicinal mushroom - Hoang Chi scientifically known as Granoderma subresinosum - has been successfully grown for the first time in Viet Nam.
The mushroom is known as a medicine to neutralise poisonous cells and prevent cancer developments and inflammation.
According to Dr. Ngo Anh, who spent 25 years studying the Hoang Chi mushroom with help from Germany's Jena University, the mushroom can grow in tropical forests, including the forest in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue. Its life cycle lasts for three months, the scientist said.
Anh and his colleagues experimentally grew the mushroom in four different ecological areas, including mountainous areas, hills, lowlands, and coastal sandy land.
Apart from Hoang Chi, local researchers discovered 39 new mushroom species in Thua Thien-Hue province.
