    #3311418 - 11/02/04 10:35 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

hey im dry running my marthas and i noticed that with the coolmist constantly running there is a constant (positive pressure) so my ? is with that positive pressure wont it constantly be "blowing out contams" without me having to cut a hole in the bottom for c02 exchange

I don't quite understand the question.

Positive pressure inside the Martha is a good thing. Like you said(I think), the positive pressure keeps contams from entering.

The key is to make sure the air the cool mist is blowing is realitivly clean. H2O2 in the water, HEPA patched over the air intake, etc.

also remember, contamination of some sort can occur in any damp area, although
it is less of a worry wheh fruiting than with incubation.

yes the coolmist has a filter in it and h2o2 in the water there is enough pressure to bow the sides out like a big balloon is that ok

The filter in it is not a HEPA filter, you would be advised to tape a piece of HEPA filter over the air intake.

As far as blowing up like a baloon.. I would probably cut a small vent hole so that didn't happen, but I don't know a whole lot about Martha setups. I don't think you're supposed to have the coolmist run 24/7, so maybe it's not an issue.

The HEPA filter isn't needed unless its sitting in a really dirty room. If kept clean a normal filter should be good enough with h202 in the water to get into the chamber. Most people leave the humidifiers filtered as is (including myself) without a problem. Time for your ultrasonic can't be told by anyone but you..it will depend on how humid the room your closet is in is. Everyones is different.. Positive airflow is good..doesnt matter if sides pump out. Contams can't get in if all holes are rushing air out.
