Vermiculite?

I was wondering if anyone had heard about the EPA(Environmental Protection Agency) pulling vermiculite off the shelves? I was in a Wal-Mart about a week ago and they no longer carry it. I've been in several different Wal-Marts since then and they don't have it either... I inquired to one the Wally World Associates and he said that the EPA had pulled it from the shelves? If this is true, is there a substitute of some kind I could use for vermiculite? If anyone has an answer to either of those questions, please get back to me on it. In the meantime I'm going to scan through some of the other methods and see if I can find any other ways to get my babies started!

They have pulled vermiculite from the shelfs b/c some brands contain SMALL amounts of asbestos. The thing about asbestos is that its only harmful when inhaled....so if you're careful when mixing it, or wear one of those white dust masks, you'll be fine. Most likely, your mushies won't absorb it, and if you did you'd prolly be fine unless you're grinding them up and snorting them <lol> or eating MASSIVE doses, or just a shit ton of mushies over a period of time.
