Just had the biggest bastard of a time voting
    #3309702 - 11/02/04 04:48 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

After sociology class was done I decided it was time to vote. I asked someone where you do it at and they just said go to a high school.

So I went to South Ogden high school which is just a couple blocks away from my University. There weren't any parking spots so I parked in faculty parking. Went in and finally found the voting booths. Turns out that you have to be in the right precint to vote and you have to vote a specific location and mine is located at the Roy Municipal Building.

So I drive around a bit and go in, and find out where the voting is. There are three grannies sitting there taking care of everything. They ask me my name and apparantly it isn't in there. I know I registered well befor ethe deadline so that shouldn't be an issue. They look at the precinct map again and they find out that I'm right on the border between two precincts. Everyone south of my street is one way and everyone north of my street is another way. They tell me to go down the street and vote at the library.

I get to the library and there are 2 middle aged women. They ask my name and they can't find it either. We look at the map one more time and they said for sure I have to vote at the municipal building.

I drive up the street to the Roy Municipal Building again and tell them that they told me to come here and vote using a provisional ballot. So in order to fill out a provisional ballot you have to have 3 forms of ID. I had my driver's liscense, student ID, and luckily some junk mail with my address on it.

I voted all democrat. Voted against a law prohibitting gay marriage. Voted against sale tax increase for stupid shit.

Now I just have to call a number up in 2 weeks to make sure my vote made it through...

I had to fill out a provisional ballot as well. Oh well. At least that leaves a paper trail.

A freind of mine who lives in Denver, CO called me and told me that when he went to vote the lady showing him how to use the touch screen entered the selection for him. He votes democrat down the line and this lady was like "...And this is how you select your candidate!" clicks on Bush and presses enter.
Kind of funny, but a bit sketchy.
