could i just fruit stright off the hig moutain compost with out putting another casing layer over it. thanks in advance

A buddy of mine used high-mountain compost and simply mixed wbs spawn into it (5gal sq. bucket)and fruited the whole thing. I don't think that it yielded as much as it would have if it was cased, but a couple of ounces (dry) is still pretty good. Another thing to remember is that when flushing is over, you can bury the whole thing in your back yard and will probably get another flush or two off of it.
