what is the 50/50 exactly that i hear about in reference to casing?

it could be any casing mixture. its probably 50% coir and 50% verm.

I think rather basic and you must be able to find it in the casing faqs on this website. I believe that also peat moss is used.
Here they sell it (coir) in gardenshops and reptile departments of an animalshop.
There are also cybergrowshops but then you will have to pay costs to send it to you.

Peat moss\verm is also a good casing layer, but you need to add ground limestone to buffer the ph. Coir can be found in some pet shops under the names "bed-a-beast" "ecoearth" and others. I suggest that when you call you dont ask for coco coir cause they have no idea what that is. Just ask for expandable reptile bedding in brick form, when you add water it expands. Then ask them what it is made of. Many times they will say coco fibers, but it is in fact what you are looking for.
