I'd get out because I have a bad shoulder (2 surgeries and many dislocations), history of mental illness (depression), and somewhat overweight. Yay4beingacripple!
There is no way I'd fight in this pointless war. Maybe if there was a war that needed to be fought (World War II), but I can't imagine giving my life to something that had no point.

To be without experience is to be without an emotional knowledge of what the experience translates into. The desire for the understanding of what life is made of is the motivation that drives us all. Without it, in fear of the experiences what life can hold is among the greatest contradictions; to live in fear of death while not being alive.

i really don't know what i'd do in such a situation...

I am very strongly opposed the concept of a draft in a free nation. I think not only does it infringe on our most basic freedom, (decision as to kill or not to kill), it also acts as a safeguard against imperalism and political wars.
That being said, I would still go to fight if I was drafted. This may sound backwards, but I view it as a method of protest. Fighting in a war and dying for a cause you don't believe in and even think is wrong, is probably the most disheartening thing anyone can imagine. In that sense, it is MY protest. That is when shame should be felt by our country.
I just think saying goodbye to your father to fight in a war he knows you don't believe in, would be a more powerful statement than running to canada or going to jail, maybe it would cause others to question themself, instead of getting angry at their perceived, "cowardice".

If we were attacked then I would help fight but since I already served i'd never be drafted.

the draft is a touchy one definately
I hear alot of people saying that they wouldnt serve in a war like this, but they would if it was WWII...well that is looking in hindsight, and its alot easier to say that when we are looking at an unjust, disgusting war.
I know that in a nation where freedom is granted to you, it is expected of you to help defend that freedom in times of need, but i really dont think i could do it. I dont think my life would be worth living after taking another persons life. Maybe thats my way of copping out way down inside, but thats how i feel.

I'd rather protest in prison than on the battlefield. At least that way I don't lose my life along with my liberty.

I would go for the simple fact that I love living in this country. I wouldnt sign up and join the military knowing that my job may be to fight a war I dont agree with. But if it came down to me being drafted, I would go.

I hope there will be a draft because I think it would be a gut check for our country. You have millions of people saying "Yea lets kill those terrorist sons of bitches!" but I bet if they realized they were being drafted they would rethink things. Once and for all question the arrogance of our country.
