I guess I need to have lighting on them 12 hours out of the day right? Is there a problem w/ 24 hours a day?
Thanks!

What is 'them' exactly? If you mean cakes or casing that are ready for fruiting then they only need a bit of light to trigger pinning, although I often leave my terrarium out so it gets light all day.

beside higher electric bill? no. But mushrooms seem to grow fatter and taller in the dark. I'm trying a new thing to keep the light on only 3 minutes every 3 hours, now. Seems to grow a bit faster and bigger in the dark. Of course, they are getting 12 hours when pinning.

I'm sorry I'm a bit tired. They are cakes that began birthing yesterday.
See if when I leave the light on the birthing chamber is at 74F, when the lights go off it drops to 68F, so can I just leave the lights on 24hours? Or will that hurt them? Thanks!

I definately would not expose mine to light 24 hours, that's just asking for trouble IMO. Especially if the light's in the fruiting chamber rather than just a small amount of indirect light.
Isn't there any other way you can increase the heat by 5 or 6 degrees?

Have a heating pad or something go on when the lights turn off

I guess I can move chamber into a warmer room at night, the chamber is air tight, so contam risk would be low =/

just go with a 16 hrs light and 8 hrs dark..... mushroom growth will be a little slower because of the lower temps but all should be fine.....

ok my buddy suggested something, leave the lights on, but put a piece of dark cloth over it, that way they will remain warm, but in the dark, sound good?
Also what's the min temp a mush will grow at, just so I know.

I have always seemed to get good results giving them around 6 hours of indirect sunlight before pinning and about 3 hours once they started pinning. i believe they do not grow to their full potential when there is to much light, but other then that it is no big deal. good luck on your grow.

Ah ok, What about my buds idea about putting a cover over them, but leaving the light on to keep them warm, that is if 68F will hurt them at night.

put a heating pad rapped around the blanket under the fruiting chamber that will bring you temp up. also 68 will not hurt them, but it will just take a bit longer to grow. good luck man.
