I am making a PMP and am going to use Perlite instead of Geolite. Do I need to steralize the perlite before putting it into the rubbermaid container?
Also, to steralize the container, can I just wipe it down with H2O2 and dry it with a paper towel or something?
As far as making sure all of the tubes and airstones are steralized, can I just steam those or wipe them down with H2O2?

Any other hints or suggestions?

I think wiping them done with alcohol would be better and i don't think you need to sterilize the perlite when you 1st put it in, but you do need to sterilize the perlite every once in a while.

no need to sterilize. It'd make a huge mess with perlite if you try to sanitize it before hand. Just try to keep that dust down a bit by spraying down while you load the PMP with perlite.

Perlite is clean enough out of the bag. But standing water is an open invitation to all the nasties. So, it's a good idea to use 1/10th H2O2 mixture in there. You can just pour like a half bottle in there after you set your water level or premix the water before you pour it into the pod.

H2O2 will degrade fairly quickly. I mean you'll need to recharge every few days if you want to keep H2O2 in there. But for all practical purposes, you only need to "recharge" the water after each flush/dunk/etc... when the cakes/casings are most vulnerable.

Good luck
