Getting Started Growing
    #3301198 - 10/31/04 04:07 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

Wondering if I could use a 10 Gallon Fish Tanks for containing the grow?

Wondering if I could use a 2 foot large lizard heat rock and another 8 inch one for humidity? Anyone ever used this before?

What do you mean by containing the grow, do you mean for a fruiting chamber? How would a heat rock be used for humidity? I don't think anyone can answer unless they know what your talking about

A heat rock would heat the chamber elevating the heat of the ambient air, you know what im talking about don't you?

Sorry I am very new at this, with the heat rock in the chamber - the chamber gets misted this will cause humidity.

Misting will increase your humidity, a heat rock will just lead to condensation due to differences in temperatures outside and in, tricking you into thinking you have high humidity. If you want to keep it simple, get a bag of perlite, throw it down, and mist.

I wouldn't use a heatrock because that would heat your chamber and you want the temp to be around 70 for them to fruit. I would use perlite as sublime said if want something simple.

Are you fruiting cakes that are already incubated and grown or making an icubation chamber to make some cakes that you will fruit in another fruiting chamber?

I am looking to put the cakes already incubated into the terrarium. Using only the large fish tank with a screen on the top, with a small fan airing out the grow with a light on top so the mushrooms grow straight up.

Perlites for plants so any place that has a garden section. Ask for perlite and they'll know what your talking about.

Alrightie thanks for all the input everyone who has contributed. Anyone have any examples or grow log post links of people using a fish tank as a fruiting chamber?

I would just put something on top that can keep humidity in and put some perlite and the bottom.
