What does Halloween represent to you?
    #3299597 - 10/31/04 12:03 AM (19 years, 5 months ago)

What does Halloween represent to you? A party, a religious holiday, or an "evil" pagan celebration of death. I prefer the third, thank you.

"A warrior is a hunter. He calculates everything. That's control. Once his calculations are over, he acts. He lets go. That's abandon. A warrior is not a leaf at the mercy of the wind. No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

Gotta admit, the evil pagan celebration of death IS pretty appealing. Mostly though it represents, candy corn (can't stand the stuff), trick-or-treating, costumes, jack-o-lanterns...you know the typical suburban America stuff.

Samhain rocks!!! Ever read "The Halloween Tree" by Ray Bradbury? I read it to my kids when they were small and I loved it myself.

I once celebrated it as such, back in my Wiccan days. I also once tried to summon the spirits of John Lennon and Kurt Cobain. Interestingly enough, it was only a couple months after that that I started writing my own songs.

I don't know. Why else would people wear costumes?

I'm sure halloween has some history to it though.. isn't it a celebration of the end of persecution against wiccans, pagans, and druids?

Nope. I believe it has to do with the Autumn Equinox. Ancient pagan traditions were very nature-oriented, so their holidays revolved around the change of the seasons.

I loooooooooooooooooove halloween. Mostly the costumes part. I love the scary ones and the funny ones.

It's the day, dead people are suppose to awake and join the living and look for souls to steal. Ooooooooooooooh, ha ha ha ha. Evil costumes of the living dead are suppose to keep you from being recognised as one of living from the soul snatchers.

Went, haunted house hopping last night. It's a chance to face creepy things in a fun light hearted spirit that you can take with you through the rest of the year.

I won't babble, I just think the costumes and decorations are fun. Trick or treating as a kid was the shizzat.

My home was morphed into the lost souls tavern this year. I like to do it up for the trick or treaters. Muahahahahahahahahahahaha I'm such an over grown kid at heart.

I was at a halloween party on friday night, and for the first time in years, I didn't dress up. I wore head to toe black tho. I couldn't help but notice how differently people perceive this holiday. Some put alot of thought into thier cosumes. Many girls see it as an opportunity to go out in public in thier underwear. That's their perogative, their own darkness...the seducer maybe?

People kept coming up to me in masks and touching me. Some were friends that were not easily recognized, one or two were just weirdos who thought they could touch me becuase I couldn't see who they were.

Dressing up is fun, but to me Halloween is about the darkness. It's about secrets and spells the unknown. It's about masks and shadows and perception. Maybe that is why instead of dressing up, I decided to just be 'dark'. A shadow.

Tonight shall bring much more.
