open veil problem

I'm having a slight problem with my shrooms. I can post a pic if the description isn't good enough, but I'd rather not f**k about with that monster camera right now if I can help it.
Whats happening is, after a first good flush of pretty much perfect shrooms (I posted a pic of em), the second flush are coming up with no appreciable veil. They started out looking like very nice healthy pins, but the next day they had grown about an inch high and the gills are already visible. In the contam faq I saw a thing about abnormalities and one called 'open veil', but it wasn't very clear on what causes this.
Now I have been busy and they have been disturbed quite a bit recently as the casing were removed for a couple of hours while I replaced all the perlite with hydroleca and made a little rack for them to sit on. The humidity appears to be about the same now. I washed the leca in dettol (roughly equivalent to lysol i think) and it smells a bit of it in the terrarium, and finally I've been up late the last week so they've been getting only a couple of hours darkness. theres a lot of factors I've introduced. Can anyone advise from experience which is likely to be the cause and what course of action I should take? I can't seem to find much useful info on this.

i believe ive read that the no veil thing can just happen sometimes, im sure you have searched but i know its here somewhere, i post the link if i can find it. but maybe the dettol is causing weirdness, i think ive also read that lysol will cause funny things to happen if you use too much of it in the grow area. we will have to wait for more experienced people to start waking up its still early over here. peace 00

this is a strain idiosyncrasy and happens when nutrients are running low its possible they may not mature, or they will have disporportionatly small caps

The best way to take care of disfigured mushrooms or ones that won't grow the way you want them to, is to pick them and all their friends off, stick them in your mouth and chew vigorously for 10 minutes and swallow.
But yea, your mushrooms will still be very much edible, they are just looking weird. It's like transexuals. They're still human and all, they just have boobs n' a man rod.

Silven you crack me up
I was thining they didn't look knackered enough to be contamed. Yeh I let them grow out, The smaller ones did grow have veils after. But as Nox said they all grew with pretty small heads. About half the flush aborted, the remaining few shrooms grew to a good size though.. the tallest about 5". This particular casing only had 1 flush before, but it was really big and even. You think I wore it out on just one flush? (info 1 1/2" approx PF cake cased with straight verm)
I'm hoping it was environmental factors, so I'm leaving it another week to see if it forms any more pins now - while waiting for my MONSTER popcorn casing to be ready to fruit .

Id guess you could pull a few more flushes of a few shrooms before its done. Watch for contams though.

Aye, PF-Tek won't provide as many flushes as grain since it's lacking the nutes etc. On your last flushes you may get some rather monsterish mushrooms though as the mycelium will push everything it's got into one or two mushrooms usually on the last flushes IME.
Hambo you going to do a log for that popcorn casing?
