I told him that I was gonna kick his but if he ate some mushrooms he had found without having obtained a positive id for them. I'm pretty sure that they may be Liberty Caps, and although I have found them with others, since I am not a mycologist or someone with more experience I was wondering if anybody could help out.
Cap: Conic to bellshaped, some with a little profused nipple at the top, on some it's a little less noticeable. I'd say the cap color is more of an dark olive green coloring or dark olive green/ brown mix.
Gills: Ascend into the cap. They appear to have a sort of purple brownish color to them.
Stem: Are all fairly long. Some appearing crooked in spots. The stems range from pale to brownish in color.
I shall obtain a sporeprint soon already kinda have one but it didn't turn out to good for me to be sure on the coloring.

do they have a separable pellicle when wet? what was the habitat?
they look like possible libs to me but the picture quality isn't so great...

When wet they do appear to have a separable pellicle
Edited: Actually I don't know why I typed that in like that, must have been distracted or something sorry. I meant to phrase that as a statement not a question.

Actually upon checking again, I can definately verify that I am able to remove a thin transparent film or skin from the caps.
Just thought I should be extra careful and make sure that what I had found was indeed the separable pellicle.

The habitat is a lowland grassy field like area with large ponds and small channels of water here and there. Around Westport Washington. There are sedge grass clumps from what I saw. Most of the grass was about ankle high, yet higher in certain areas it's a hunting area as well for elk and such I beleive.
A wet area in general, with rains and such.

they look like Ps semilanceata (liberty caps) to me.
Nice find.

they look like liberty caps to me..
tell your friend that it's extremely dumb to eat unidentified mushrooms.

I know this is slightly redundant but I myself have developed a slightly overly cautious approach to the world of mushrooms.
Here is another sporeprint that turned out better. I was thinking that when the sporeprint is to be a purple brown that it would show up a more vibrant purply color? As well though this looks to be correct.

What I've noticed is that it appears that in this field they are all only showing up so far in a single, generaly, fairly small area. I've been out there recently and saw someone else off a little ways away stooped over inspecting the grasses, I assumed they were mushroom hunting since it was fairly obvious. Yet I swear I checked that area and only found species that had caps that just definately had nothing to do with Semilanceata, so unless there are some that recently decided to grow over there than I don't know what they were picking.
