Cemetary Shrooms
    #3294563 - 10/29/04 04:24 PM (19 years, 4 months ago)

These were found on pine needle and mossy areas in the pacific northwest. Light tan color and measuring from 1.5"-2.5" with a 3/4"-1" cap with nipple. They do not appear to be brusing and I have yet to do a spore print. Anyone know what they may be...

These same area and I am guessing cyanescens?

there really was no reason to pick all of those.. they arent active and definately not cyans.. do a search on cyans and you will see that they are caramel brown

I dunno about picking shrooms from a cemetary....

I picked some actives from one once and couldn't bring myself to eat them. I am of the opinion that active shrooms are of a spiritual nature. There has to be some kind of negative energy associated with cemetaries... Negative energy that would manifest itself in the shrooms.

Well thats my opinion anyway...

I see two kinds. You need to make spore prints to get an accurate ID.

The first ones look like Inocybes. Inocybes should all be treated as dangerously poisonous. If they are Inocybes, then a microscope will be required to identify them.

The second ones look like Mycenas. Although not as poisonous a genus as Inocybe, Mycenas are pretty much worthless from as activity or edibility standpoint. And there are still some known poisonous Mycenas.

Happy mushrooming!
