A Bass lovers plea for help
    #3293958 - 10/29/04 03:49 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

I hope its ok posting this here...

I've got these massive speakers, really good quality, but the other day when I went to stick on some music, they werent playing the music.  I put the volume up to max and the speakers were playing the music but really quietly!!  Twisted sense of humour these speakers have!!

Anyone know what could be wrong wit them? as theyre playing the music but at about a 1/50th of the volume they should be at.

Again am sorry if people dont wanna be reading this in the pub  :frown:

Is it possible a fuse has blown? or would that mean no power would get through at all?

maybe your wires are shorting out. Check your connectios and see if the two are touching each other or any thing else metal.

if they are floor speakers, meanin that they have 3 different size speakers in the box (tweater, midrange, and woofer)...

then the built in crossover (wich is mounted inside the box) could have a short in it...

or like SHEIKofSHIITAKE said it could be numerous other things that would require some trial and error...

I would discontinue play music on a volume level that is 50x what it should be until you figure out the problem.

Thanks people, and yea i wouldnt wanna have the vol at max when the sound cuts back in, would most likely get my ear drums burst.

Gonna see what I can do tomorrow, its gonna be a pain in the neck  though, some arse decided it would be a good idea to build a book shelf infront of the wires  :dumblol:

Make sure all the connections are intact (disconnect and reconnect everything). Be sure to double check the polarities (+ on +, etc..). it may seem stupid, but it happens.

Also, what is the difference in sensitivity of the two speakers? It should not make a 50x difference, but anything's possible.
