Jar height question

Five days ago I innoculated a set of jars with the MMGG method, but haven't seen any signs of mycelium yet. I haven't given up hope, although I've started a new batch today--this time using the more-ideal (as I understand it) short-and-wide 1/2-pint jelly jars. My first set of jars were 1/2-pints, but they were the tall narrow sort. While I may, of course, have screwed up any number of things, such as sterilization or room environment (or perhaps I'm just not being patient enough), I was wondering whether the tall jars themselves make any difference in the time required for colonization. Anyone have any info on this?

Yes, the taller jars can take longer simply becuase of the shape. It will also affect things when you go to fruit.

Be patient on those jars. Give'em at least another week before you call them a failure.
