Magash, how fine is "fine"?

As in, it works? So does 100% vermiculite..

But is it optimal? What have you found to be optimal?

You can use just verm. I would do a mix of verm and coco coir, go one step further and you can do a 50/50+ tek. You can also use coir alone. I have seen great harvests from just coco coir/verm though.

Coir works fine, the reason verm is added is it better holds in water. Only 30%verm (70% coir) is added because coir will dry out quickly. Straight coir can work but you'll need to keep it more humid and mist more. Plus the myc will colonized the casing layer quicker so you should probably fruit it a little sooner then your used to. Theres definatly a reason he adds verm normally (along with the rest of us that use 70/30) Good luck!
